About Us

In 1993, most of my friends were wearing braids, cornrows and dreadlocks. I thought "Who are we... The Braided Bunch?" And that folks is how my greeting card family was born. I believe cards should be thoughtful, beautiful, and clever. Especially after you shake them and no money falls out!  Wow! Cash. Remember that? I digress. Since all hair textures buy cards, I thought I would design my own and represent. - L. Jones

The Nappy Disclaimer

The word “Nappy” in my world was used to describe hair that was tangled. Hence the first card I designed is the “Nappy Holidays” card, depicting a scene where “Mattie Braided” is getting her hair done for Christmas. The baby “Braided” is none too happy. This character would have been fine sporting her tangled and matted “do”. I named her Mattie because:

Matted is not cute.

These cards mimic MY own hair journey. I only sat in the “torture” seat twice a year, Christmas and Easter. The screams of this tender- headed girl, getting her “hair done”, could be heard for miles. Decades later the only thing that’s changed is: I’ve learned to hold back the tears.

The comb. Not a fan.

In conclusion, the word nappy is used here to describe hair that is not combed. Not a texture. We love ALL hair and heads at The Braided Bunch. We are thrilled with The CROWN ACT initiatives and the States and Jurisdictions that have passed this much needed legislation.

We are seen!

Heada, Dread, Ollie (Twist), Mattie Braided and the “Twisted Sisters“ will proudly do their part to -“Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair.”
